Setting aside some time in March to get your SIP trunking questions answered.

SIP trunking should be a commodity installation. Unfortunately this is not true for the majority of implementations. Year after year The SIP School has published its annual SIP Survey, which demonstrates that the same implementation problems have persisted for the last four years. The survey is analyzed in the blogs Different Year, Same Old SIP Trunk Provider Problems and Why SIP Problems Persist--and What to Do About Them.

We are going to tackle these issues in the Enterprise Connect Birds of a Feather session "SIP Trunking Triumphs and Torments," scheduled for Wednesday, March 9 from 2:45 - 3 PM. The session description states:

There are five contributors to SIP trunk success:

This session is designed for participants to voice their experiences with SIP trunk implementations, both the problems and solutions. This session is not focused on the vendors, providers, or VARs; rather, it is focused on recommendations to reduce or eliminate the problems. The theme of this session is for the IT technologists to share their experiences.

The SIP Survey I mentioned earlier provides some insights to the problems and solutions involved in implementing SIP trunks. The common problems discovered by the survey that will be discussed during this session include:

Many questions will be posed during the session for attendees to address, including:

I invite all to participate in this BoF session, whether you are considering, planning, implementing, or operating a SIP trunks installation. Although the SIP Survey is valuable, speaking to a contemporary brings home the issues and resolutions.
