I've had people go through much of a morning or even a day thinking that I'm working from home, when in fact I'm at my desk.
Does this happen to anyone else? One of the big deals with IP telephony is supposed to be the fact that you can appear just as if you're in the office, even if you're working from home, or from a hotel on the road, or wherever. You're reachable via 4- or 5-digit dialing, you show up on Caller ID as being in the office, etc.
With me, it's just the other way around. In our office, we communicate a lot over public IM. And several times now, I've had people go through much of a morning or even a day thinking that I'm working from home, when in fact I'm at my desk. In my office. Which is the office everyone else has to pass to get to their offices or cubes.
I'm not complaining, really; it cuts down on the distractions, probably.
It's just kind of weird. I mean, I do tend to mind my own business and plug away at stuff all day. I'm relatively even-tempered, so there are few outbursts.
But if I knew it was this easy to go undetected, maybe I'd be up to more....I've had people go through much of a morning or even a day thinking that I'm working from home, when in fact I'm at my desk.
